Life takes a mulligan
Life takes a mulligan,
wouldn't it be wonderful,
a do over,
a back to the beginning.
Take another swing,
hitting the ball straight instead
of the way it went.
Stuck by a tree
an impossible shot, so
you kicked it away
no one was looking
what was the harm?
One shot,
one shot, then another
pretty soon the game was
out of control, lost.
Were you,
to take a mulligan
then, right there at the tree.
You knew that moment.
But you decided to save it,
for another
day.
Later after everything else
there was that Frank Capra moment,
what would happen,
what would happen,
if only.

Life takes a mulligan
Every life has a measure of sorrow, and sometimes this is what awakens us. Steven Tyler
I wonder if we had another chance that in the middle of it we'd say "what if"? Nicely thought provoking. I like this.
Thanks
I think some poems I like more than others and this is one I enjoyed writing and coming back to. It still causes me to think of those moments in life, the road not taken versus the road taken. It is interesting. raskin
raskin, i really enjoyed
raskin, i really enjoyed this poem. i have been playing golf since i was 8 years old and i think the measure of a man is how he plays the game of golf. if he is honest in the game of golf then he will be honest in life. and thats true, but sometimes in life, we do make mistakes that we wish we could take back. a mulligan. but the only thing we can do sometimes is really try and learn from them, and move on. then forgive yourself.
great, great poems. you are really good.

glad you liked it
I've had my share of shots out of the woods, my ball always seems to go there. A long time ago I decided the trees are my friends and I have hit some incredible shots out of the woods. I've heard men tell me I couldn't do it and I said watch me. I enjoy the game although I'm not good, that's why I'm in the woods all the time. raskin
