Old canoe on the bank
Dawn, mist clung to the lake
the canoe lie on the bank
grass had overgrown
resting among the weeds
untended, waiting, I
listened to the rustling
in the cattails, critters
called the canoe home
grass, weeds murmured
with their movement,
still, there was an opening
where in the past
the canoe had been launched
I looked through that parting

seems like it needs more
What you think about, you bring about.
I guess I needed more, you left me wondering what was beyond the parted weeds, and why was the canoe, left unattended? No time to lay in it and watch the sun climb in the sky or to traverse a rapids? Good write it made me think of how much I want to go canoeing soon. Thanks

good questions
Thank you. I was trying to illustrate with this one the neglect of something that is uncared for, but still worthy and useful, through the parting can be whatever the readers imagination wants to put there. It is a well worn path that still exists despite the neglect. Yes, there should be more but sometimes that is up to the reader to think about and complete. I hope that helps. raskin
