Rocks
Waves slowly hit the sandy beach
beating it repetitively,
a cadence,
a march.
With each wave
rocks move
agitate against each other,
jockeying for position
to land
firmly
away from the others.
Periodically one escapes
with a wave
deposited
nestled
in the firmness of the sand.
As the water recedes
from the rock
it leaves a trail
a map
pointing back to
the water.

Wave movement
Lovely wave movement reflected in the poem's flow and rhythms.
