Serendipity brought me back
Growing up where I did there was a path
that led into a forest,
tall pines where abundant,
as was the poison ivy.
Everyone was advised
to not get off the trail,
but from time to time
I would wander.
Curiosity, the need to be alone
drove me off the path
but in those times
there was always something
that I discovered or experienced
the quiet of the untrodden trail,
the clearing with flowers newly opened
and unseen by the others,
the cabin with the dock
nestled in the trees, a lake, pristine,
wild. I smile,
I've been here before. Serendipity
brought me back.

very good raskin
I loved this one raskin you have a knack with nature poems in the way that you describe your walks perfectly so people can see it in front of them,
that is how I like poetry to be ,and I too like to get out and off the beaten track,as you say you see nature more naturally which you wouldn`t see normally if you stayed to the pathways ,
well written Raskin yet again from Willow
thanks
This is a real place the dock is called potato salad dock, people used to dock there and picnic. It is a beautiful spot. raskin
your poem brought back memories, raskin
you smoothly take us along with you on your walk. It is also a walk through memory. Lakeside cottages are so beautiful and you capture it beautifully! Thanks for the gift, raskin.
