The elevator

The elevator door opened
up or down,
I looked through the door
others peered at me,
were they worried, bored?
Did they too wonder
will we make it to our floor
without tumbling down to smash
on the bottom?
I wondered about it, if I was stuck
in there, or if the building tumbled down
would I have time to call home?
Tell them what to do in the
event I not come home or
what to make for dinner.
With these thoughts I
stepped onto the elevator
floor 100 please.
Doors close.

good one Raskin

I liked this one and I have thought the same in an elevator `what If` it is a pretty frightening experience, especially if you are in it on your own,I always get a static shock in there when I press the buttons have to use a tissue to do it ,too much static in me maybe from using the computer too much ha ha .good poem Raskin thanks for sharing it hugs from Willow

It's a funny

picture I get with you exuding static electricity, so you are saying you have excess energy? I'm glad you liked this and commented. Elevators can be taken for granted I remember the elevator operators in those old elevators, how ornate those elevators were. The polished brass. raskin

excess energy

Hi Raskin I wish did have excess energy I spoke to a shop assistant about me getting shocks from the elevator buttons and she said they all get it also from being on the computers all day so I put to down to that but I could be wrong. hugs from Willow

Oddly Entertaining

Madelyn,

There was something about this piece that drew me in and had me thinking thoughts I'd never entertained before. Good on ya.

Ward

Good to entertain

Batman, I get these weird thoughts at times and it is fun to express. It really is a leap of faith everytime we get on an elevator, trusting the engineering will get us to our destination and back on the ground again. Sometimes I will look around the elevator and wonder if anyone is having the same thoughts. Robin
