The winter rose

To be a winter rose,
lying dormant
through the cold, dark times.
Waiting patiently
quietly, slowly growing
in unseen, unnoticed ways.
Knowing,
when the light arrives
my bloom will open.

great poem!

Raskin, This is how i feel right about now living in New England. Leaving behind the dark days of winter and then the spring approaching! Sun!!! Natures medicine!
Good one Raskin!

I know

it felt as though the white season would never end it had such a grip, but today I was out in my garden enjoying myself. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment. raskin

Amazing....

what a little sunshine, and getting your hands into the cold, wet earth can do for a person!

very beautifully done, raskin

Each word is carefully chosen and enhances the beauty of your poem. All of us wait for our winters to end - it just takes longer for some than for others. But beauty will be born. Thanks for this lovely poem!
