Vigil for spring
Winter is beginning to subside,
snowbanks recede as though
miniature glaciers pulling back,
leaving the remnants of
the time that has passed.
Dirt, pebbles, smashed paper cups,
long lost sleds and a broom
all are revealed as winter ebbs.
Each day something new
is born from the melt,
I continue my vigil for spring
watching, waiting for
the day my garden is unveiled.
