Wind

The wind wails, moaning, howling.
I have a confession
I feel like the wind.
I've withstood gales, storms
sometimes I've been
a seagull in the wind
soaring arms outstretched
looking for a place to land
to find solid, stable ground.
I know the intensity and fear
of a tornado,
the negative air pressure
as the oxygen is being sucked
out of the building.
Leaving everyone breathless.
I've been the sudden gust
coming up on people unexpectedly.
I've seen their eyes as I approach
unable to turn around,
they back up.

very powerful and beautifully done, raskin

You capture the image of the wind and your own feelings perfectly. Your word choices are excellent, and you move through the images like the wind itself! I always learn a lot from your poems. Great job!
