Yellow balloon
I stood there
unable to move,
the sight of them,
all the colors of the rainbow
floated before my eyes.
A sight to behold,
I watched them sway lightly.
They were attached to a man
with a smile,
how light and happy he looked.
I stood there my eyes filled
with the balloons,
a multitude to choose from,
I smiled big
pointing to one.
The man ceremoniously untied
the balloon with a great flourish,
presenting me with a large
yellow balloon.
I took it, smiling
saying thank you,
then letting it go.
I watched it float through the clouds
into the heavens with my wish.

Happy
What you think about, you bring about.
What a happy picture you evoked in my mind, thank you. I needed it. It feels of innocence, and lightness, and contentment.
Sincerely,
Debborah
Thank you
I think it is good to remember those moments and call them forth, it can be refreshing. raskin
WHEEEEEE!!
As Debborah said, I needed something wonderful to read and this was it. I can still picture the man ceremoniously untying that one balloon to hand off, seeing the joy on the face of the one to whom he handed it.
Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so, too.

Thank you
There really is joy in seeing a balloon float by tied to a wrist and seeing the wonder. This was a reminder for me. Keep things light and happy. raskin
Wonderful Simplicity
Raskin,
You have captured a simple moment in time in this piece and made it so meaningful for the reader. I can only hope that you got that wish.
Well Done,

isn't it great that childhood memories can indeed be a fountain source of fantastic poetry. i like your free verse style, man. just like this poem, your lines "float through the clouds into the heavens".

Yes I think there is such depth of knowledge in childhood, all those lessons of simplicity, of experience turn to become applied knowledge, strength. raskin
