Nightmare
As darkness falls in the city of old,
not a soul strays outside-
they know.
They know what demons come out to play
when the witching hour falls-
they strike.
No one is safe as they pillage and murder,
there is no boundary to their treachery-
they devour.
They feed off your pain under the blanket of darkness;
ravenous beasts that know nothing of mercy-
they steal.
There is no contract of blood, hide your soul- it is not safe;
They will not stop until you have been drained-
they rape.
The city is destroyed once they are finished,
save yourself, we hide no heroes here-
they kill.
Take no prisoners, kill as savages, they will laugh at your feable pleas;
there will be no survivors, run while you can-
they've won.
They dominate over us whether we realize it or not,
we are under their control; slaves to consume-
you run.
It's a battle you can never win; you have no choice but to run,
yet as you flee through quicksand, you slow as they begin to gain-
you cry.
It's too late to hope for sanctuary- where is your god?
Of all the times, a light would be most welcomed in this darkness-
you pray.
As they smile down at you, teeth bared, you stand serenely, waiting
waiting for your dream to end as they rip into your flesh-
you weren't dreaming.
