The proud seeds of African-American slaves
For too long we stood shackled by the confinement of shame.
The shame of knowing we are the seeds of a former slave.
The false mentality that in America, we will not truly live free.
The untrue belief that we would be slaves until we go to our grave. For years, by society, it was beat and bred inside of us.
African-Americans were never meant to be apart of the great American delusion.
People and society judged us to be just the seeds of slaves.
African-American slaves bought to be a pawn for the great American institution.Forced to live in blighted areas and live the worst of lives.
We had to run for our lives just to pass through America's neighborhood.
And in the darkness of the shadows that covered the streets
We were forced to survive and live in ways that no one ever should.Yet centuries later, here at last we still stand tall and strong,
Though pushed around, we have refused to be knocked down.
We are African-Americans striving hard to survive and fighting to stay alive .
The proud seeds of African-American slaves and we will stand our ground.America, here we are; take a good sincere look at us.
We are strong, proud African-Americans just trying to stay alive.
We are determined to secede where we once were out of place.
We are outspoken African-Americans just striving hard to survive.Toward us the world often has been cold and brutal.
The people of society constantly warring to keep us down.
Yet, here we still stand tall, proud and very strong.
We are African-Americans, the seed of a slave; we will stand our ground.
