Come on, Ill show you
Hold my hand and I'll take you there
A place you'd love to know
Where I planted a 50p coin
and prayed for a tree to grow.
Where sunshine was plenty
lay a feild of emerald green
Where there grew the prettiest
daisies you've ever seen
I tumbled and rolled
in buttercups of gold
I sat for hours with bugs below
Sneaking mums bikkies
hoping she wouldnt know.
Lorraine and I built our own little base
If she wasnt there it was my shadow I'd chase
I'd lay on the ground, absorbing the sound
of the distant birds above
Where no other kids could bully me
tease me or shove
I lived in my house but that field was my home
I would still tumble therein it even now that Im grown
Lorraine my best friend who I used to chase
she never cared about my religion or race
We rescued a kitten one Haloween
hoping my mum wouldnt make it a scene
We fed it tuna that I'd get from my house
Spent our savings on a fluffy toy mouse
I can still hear my mums call for dinner
'Sweetie come in,its time for your dinner!'
Mmmm couscous and tageen,my favourite food
Lorraine watched as I ate but not that Im rude
The chilli was a bit of a nono you see
So dinner today was only for me
We'd return to our base
between that tree and that wall
We'd draw and sing and jump and fall
Those were the days, yep the days of fun
We still chat on the phone about all the things we'd done
Now hold my hand and lets go home
but remember this field for when you've kids of your own
