City Beat
Got a dime for an old man's rhyme?
I'll dance for you in scruffy shoe
I slurs sometime, excuse the wine.
I hears the beat of the city street
And speak my verse for good or worse
Sure, I'm not neat, not worth a meet.
Look past my form, beyond the norm
Just watch the show and feel the glow
I'll make you mourn, then laugh at "corn".
I'll right some wrongs, it won't take long
And tap some shoe that you can do
You do belong, so sing along.
Please drop a fin and watch me grin
A jewel, a tool, the golden rule
Coin or Yen for my can of tin.
I crash at night in alley trash
Wake up to sing and stretch my wing
Within the ash, I search for stash.
Ain't got no band or any land
But I'm in no cage, the streets my stage
So just shake my hand; life can be grand!
