A Get Away

Like life, you hide so much
Covering multitudes in blue-green liquid
Your salty attitude, so mysterious.

Sure you wave at me
Like a friendly roaring giant
But you are relentless

Puffing up, flexing your muscles
Continuously throwing yourself on the sand
Your temper is notorious

But so is your kindness
Sometimes angry and vicious
But always a home to evolving civilizations

You crash into your sandy apron
And receding you leave shell gifts
Like contrition for past disasters.

Yes, mysterious as life, you are
Reflecting the heavens on moonlit nights
I sometimes walk upon your sand to get away.
