Wasted Time

A little flower shone so bright,
Yet there was only the smallest of lights.
It made no sense, why wasn't it weak,
It bugged me forever that this plant couldn't speak.

So i made my own tests and sat in a row,
Ten little buds that were eager to grow.
I lay them to sleep in there earthly beds,
I watered so long they became overfed.

I was angry and bitter that I hadn't won,
All that money and time, it was wasted, all gone.
So I returned to the ever mysterious plant,
That lit up the room as natures precious lamp.

I asked the owner "Why does this plant glow?"
He jokingly replied "Its made of plastic, you know!
