Nightmares

Between the sounds of evening
and the beating of my heart,
my fear filled breath quickens
they creep in and they start.

What can I do?
Wherever can I hide?
No guard against these phantoms,
a black hole opens wide.

Like the weight of oceans,
they come crashing down on me.
These banchee's of my terror,
they just won’t let me be.

Darkness so black
not even moonlight,
to guide thoughts from escaping
this terrible blight.

Open my heart,
watch the blood bleed,
Lucifer’s messenger
planted his seed.

The reaching,the yearning,
exhausted from fright.
How did they enter
and find me tonight?

Then the void cracks,
sanity finds its way in.
Evil leaks out,
morning begins.

It all was a dream,
nothing much I can do.
Wait till midnight,
for the devils voodoo.

These nightmares of mine
wont leave me alone.
God take them away,
my soul’s turning to stone.
