On the beam ...
On the beam
Hot and cold can be learned
it comes without thinking.
Watch the actions of others
meant merely just not blinking.
The side of the road or gutter,
positions where I was standing.
Mainstream life was passing by,
baffled I lacked understanding.
Like bowling with both bumpers
one stays in the lane.
But when thrown down the alley
your direction can wane.
Watch the gymnast who does the routine,
the place is not on the ground.
Square on the beam, dead center best,
where balance is always found.
Being on the beam doesn’t come unto me
due to wanting or mental desire.
I have to work hard most everyday
and not play in the mud and mire.
The road in the middle on the beam standing true
a plumb line to my inner being.
Puts me paces away from the curb I once was
my direction I’m clearly now seeing.
