owning my pain

it consumes me
leaving little more than hope
it drains me
leaving enough to cry

without form
it shapes my stature
without strength
it holds me down

i can run from it
yet it finds my hiding place
i can ignore it
yet it has me as a captive audience

my pain has no price tag
i am in debt for its worth
my pain comes from everyone
i am the only owner
