She Smiles

she smiles

with auburn hair
shoulder in length
a glow gleaming from her face

she stands
as if waiting for me
dressed in the finest lace

she smiles oh so warmly
sending her love
into my heart

in picture frame
made of looking glass
i pray we never part

this promise she made
has now been kept
on our secret holiday

a shooting star i’ve wished on
that we’d be together soon one day

Keelhauled

There's a boat in the harbor
riding low in the waves.
There's a hole in its keel
and it cannot be saved!

The captain is bailing
for the first-mate has fled.
The cabin-boy frantically
bails in her stead.

For each bucket bailed
six more flow right in,
as the captain's wife wails:
Serves you right for your sin!

The captain keeps bailing
Though the first-mate has fled.
She won't be the last
to share that fool's bed.

She Smiles!

And I'm sure she smiled when she read this. Many of my writes are dark and gloomy. I prefer romantic poetry, although I'm terrible at writing them. You did an excellent job with this one. I'm
very pleased to have read this. Good job, Ron.
