This awful plot

Alone I sit and watch this play
as it unfolds before me.
I character assassinate
behold an elegy.

The lights are low,
I’ve been back stage,
the dialogue unclear.

No one is reading
from the script,
distraction is severe.

I should approach the ticket booth
and get my money back.
If only I could stand and talk
to Cyrano de Bergerac.

I recollect a derelict
told me in mid drool,
“scores not much to listen to,
the heroine’s a jewel.”

Whenever is the curtain call
to end this awful plot?
Please Maestro stop the melody
about this lonely sot.
