Child of mine

CHILD OF MINE

I heard your first cries,
Saw your tiny feet
and big bright eyes.

I held you in my arms,
So tiny and frail.
Kissing your forehead and
Cherishing your smell.

Before I knew it you
Were on your feet,
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter,
A sound so sweet.

School rolled around and
You were ready to go.
New clothes, new shoes
And book bag in tow.

When you were ten,
You broke your first bone.
Your leg in a cast, all
Laid up at home.

The teenage years flew by,
Driving and your very first crush.
Slow down sweetheart,
The best parts you just can’t rush.

The time had come,
College years were here.
You made it your best
But not without fear.

Now you’re grown, gone and on your own,
Trying to find your way.
When I think back on your young life,
I always go back to your very first day.

Child of mine

This was very sweet, Christy. I haven't been around for nearly a week.
