Any Given Moment

In any given moment
He can change

Within a millisecond..

He let’s out a steady
Contemptuous rumble;

As frown lines form
Like shredded wheat
Upon puffed up platters of custard.

Tears shall accompany him soon
But first words

Words
Hurling themselves like frenzied cattle
Towards; bungee jumping skies.

He draws a restless tick tock breath
As yellowish skin
Toke’s up the smooth of mellowing Marlborough.

I cannot swim within his pain
Nor join him in his dance of tears...

Like this one Debs

like this poem Debs a heartfelt poem well written alcoholism must be a hard thing to deal with ,I had a violent Father but was due to compulsive gambling and if he didnt have the money to feed his need my Mother suffered, it was no joke to watch him beat her up,she divorced him in the end,I hated him for what he did to my mother I suppose it all boils down to the same thing, I can sympathise with you Debs it hurts bad when the one you loved turns ugly towards you.

Thanks!

Thanks Willow, though this was just an observational piece:about Alcoholism in general, and not about anybody in particular.

excellent, debs

the last two lines are wonderful - it is so hard to sympathize with someone causing pain even though you know that person is also in pain. What agony! Very well done.

joyce

Thanks Joyce

It's so true!, and you have summed up most of what i was trying to express here.
Thanks for reading.
