Cats
Cats can get into anything. Getting out again, however...
When I was a kid, our cat got stuck in the walls of our apartment after some workers had left an open hole in my bedroom wall. Poor Marie, she cried and cried for days. You could hear her from anywhere in the apartment, but you couldn't pin it down to a specific location. The workmen couldn't find her, and she either couldn't or wouldn't escape the same way she entered. After a week, we thought she must have died. But then, the workers tore open the steps, and she SPRANG out like a cat out of hell. Where did she go? Right back through the same open hole she'd entered the first time. Luckily, this time she re-emerged at the steps immediately, and we kept her safe.
Sheesh, long story huh? Sorry, I just identified with your wonderfully quirky poem very much, and felt I had to share why!

They're pretty amazing creatures, and it goes to show how resiliant they are. It must have been awful hearing her cries though.. i'd have hated it!.. Glad she got rescued and thanks for sharing this Crooklyn.
