I am a fool!

For love
It rides
Beside me
On the bus.

Great company
We keep,
For near on
Twenty stops;
Though it flops
Onto- my chest

Embraces my face
With the
Cunning ease
Of a
Soggy pancake
Distressed

Mithers me!

Like a pesky kid
In a candy store
And
Tugs upon my
Shirt collar,

Tap tap taping
A rap like
Teddy Wilson
On the ivory keys
Of a grand piano-

Cigar in hand
Reciting a jazzy
Little
Number.

Bounds around the
Fire place
With extraordinary
Grace;
Dives freely-into

The laundry basket.

I Need

To

Wash it away...

I do!

Rinse it from my
Hair and skin;
With a posh shampoo
Bought from
Bloomingdale’s,

Set the dryer to
Spin
And be done
With it.

Chase it back

Attack it with a
Wooden spoon
Or other
Kitchen implement,

Coax it

With chocolate
And a
Twelve year malt
From the cellar,

Set a mouse trap
Humane;
With a fine selection
Of cheeses
To purge on.

Get get!
You pesky thing;
Lord of love and
Pleasure seeker,

You don’t
Belong here,

Back back back
Into the
Cupboard of
Mismatched socks.
