Chaotic Calm
This desert I'm in has tormented me
like an unwanted shadow from a sunless sky
hours turn to ash in the palm of my hand
as I try to fend off the shifting sands.
I pray for strong winds
to carry me through
this desolate place
a place I once knew
Knew and now know so well
a rhetoric psalm
without sense or direction
only chaotic calm.
Heavy winds around noon
the weatherman's song
should i ready so soon?
..when theyre most often wrong
I'll take this chance to escape the barren waste
only one backward glance, then I make haste
I will not slow my stride
until the calm is but a spec
no regrets now, I've re-shuffled the deck
ready to face what awaits me;
no one can tell,
how I'll do in this world
I knew and now know so well
