The Ring
Closing the door, he paused to stand
As he took the class ring from her hand.
All who were watching could not speak a word.
A single tear rolled down his cheek
Remembering how he wanted to be free.
How he had hurt her, he could not see.
Her warm brown eyes had now turned cold
He couldn’t have her anymore to hold.
He whispered “I love you” as he went so near
On his finger he placed his class ring
Hoping forgiveness it soon would bring.
He said goodbye and gave her a kiss
This was his special girl, he would surly miss.
As the door closed, his head hung low
As they pulled the casket through the snow.
