Elephants
It's like a memory held in flesh
in the expansion of your lungs as you take in the breath
it's every hope that you have left.
I can remember clearly
every single time that we went out
and every single hand I almost held
and every single touch I almost felt
I can't lie, not really
I never knew what they were on about
When no-one answers their phone
you've lost a home
I remember every single time that we went out
And I remember every single love I almost tried
and I remember every signle one that didn't work
every single hurt
So if you ask me what's the problem, baby
I don't know if I can answer
i've been so on about-
I don't really know about-
I wish I acted on-
Oh oh oh
The girls in their heels and their skirts
little flirts
They're so on about it too
putting on their rick perfume
Enough to make the poor boys swoon
and when they swoon, they dance
dancing boys make girls take chances
Would you like to take a walk with me?
If you bring him close to the perfume, he'll lose his cool
break every rule
just to get inside that heady scent
emmininating from your sternum
holds the soft of girls (i wouldn't know)
to slowly go.
I remember every love I almost lost
How about you; remember the cost?

Well done, though not sure about how the title relates. Still very nice.
It's nice to give thought, to the thought of what made us first fall in love with poetry, and not to abuse it.

This poem is so original and so much about young love and life,
your descriptive language and ideas and style, large with uniqueness,
have a quality of lasting impression: "Elephants", yes they are
said to have great memories, and I get that symbol in this poem.
Your poem could have been entitled "Memories", but Elephants
is so readily symoblic and how about the perfume, the "cost" of love...
Your choice of words and phrasing make this love poem stand alone!
This is a great poem of young love or love at any age...!
