The Choice
They deem it the coward's way out
But that is easy to say
when the feeling is foreign;
the hopeless emptiness inside
the iron fetters affixed to aching limbs
is it such a selfish act
if there is no one there to even care?
is ridding the world of your pathetic self
such a tragedy? a taboo?
Do they who too soon lose the strength
to carry on for one more day
go only to dwell in the eternal fires
with Satan, that serpent of old
Or so it is that which the men of God hold
An act against The Creator, a sin
But to those who have waited for time to heal,
to find no relief from their inner torment
may decide to place fate into their own hands
only to be deemed cowardly and tragic
by those standing on the sidelines
