Smoking

Smoking is just a habit now
Splashes of ember ashes
Flickers of switch on
And light up

The smooth gray smoke floats up
As you begin to suckle
Deaths hard tit
Of black death

Hitting the back of your throat
Burning a calm
Yet shaky, unstable, but definite
Hole into your throat

Hot ambers of red and black
Caving in
And crushing your lungs
Whilst suffocating your brain

Your friends would rather die
Than join you
For a moment
Of death

They back away
Even further
As the smoke crawls
Even closer

They cringe
As they cry inside
Watching your lungs blacken
As you cough yourself to death

The embers dim
And floats
Sticking to your clothes and rotting your flesh
Curling tightly back around your mind

Tricking you
Into thinking
You need them
To live

Laughing in your face
As you spill out your change
And cry
And spit up for them

Snickering back at you
In the reflection of your lighter
And laughing
Laughing at your tears

Because you stupidly thought
You had bigger problems
Than the 50 cents you just blew
Waiting for the chemo that will choke you

I don’t need you
Oh burning soot
One pack
Left

One last skull and crossbones
One last
Life to live
I don’t need you death

We are not friends anymore
It has been to long
It’s time for your final
Curtain call

So say goodbye to me
Bury someone else’s treasures
There’s more to life
Than sudden death

A good write

This is a good write, on a bad habit, anyone contemplating starting smoking should read this, it will probably put them off. you have put into words well, why it is such a stupid thing to do.
