Theivery

It could have been me.
The "smash and grab" mentality.
The capitalistic opportunism was all they did see.

With no regard for life or limb,
for hours worked through thick and thin,
for debts paid to society, or the family within.

Those who have served the community,
the customers, or the family tree.
All they saw was "smash and grab."
All they saw was money.

It could have been them.
The gracious ones I have come to know,
could have been caught in the crossfire,
of this materialistic abhorrent show.

To survive under duress
of this sick mentality...
and still proceed forward.
How triumphant we will be.

Your poem is so important for we are all absorbed by this
type of "Thievery"! As we must earn that buck, and sometimes
like a duck, so we quack...but at least we swim..."How triumphant
we will be." That line is a real scene stealer, and ear popper~!
This is a really good poem!

With much thanks

I penned it today based upon a true story.
