Security
Eyes swollen from tears
No where to turn
I hide from the world
In my bath room
Locking the door,
Shutting you out
I sit and weep
I shudder in fear
I climb into the tub
Aching for security
I close the curtain
For privacy
Hunting for safety from my own mind
I shut my eyes, and wince in pain
As I grip my wrists
Searching for a way out
I look closely at the veins that run through my arm
Then at the scars
I know how to do it
Where to slide the blade
But I don’t
I won’t
That would be running
Just like you did
I won’t leave the ones who care
Even though you left me,
I can’t cause them the pain you dealt me
You say you’ll come back
That you’ll always love me
I don’t believe you
But I wish you would
There’s a knock on the door,
A familiar voice, could it be?
I step out of the bath tub,
Checking my face in the mirror
Wiping away the tears
I take a deep breath
And open the door
There you stand, arms open wide
Saying I told you I’d be back
Stepping into your arms,
I no longer search for security.

Very Powerful
you really captured the scene...i like it. I do not think that the story was completely clear for me, but in someway that adds to it. That the speaker is also confused and that puts the reader in the same position. cool.
