Perception is Everything

It is damp and dark today;
In my mind, it is always damp and dark.

I lift up my head from the hot, sweaty rock where I lay my head;
And I begin to think of life.

Life is the birds flying;
The bees buzzing;
And the flowers blooming.

Life does not exist;
In my damp, dark mind.

A never-ending pit;
Filled with despair and heartache;
Takes over my mind.

My eyes cease to see;
I am blind and oblivious.

My mind's eye is that of loveless sorrow;
I fear the worst is yet to come.

More and more years in this reality;
More and more pain in my life;
More and more loveless sorrow seen through my mind's eye;
And a growing pit of despair and horror;
Takes over all that I have become.

Life is love;
Love is pain;
Pain is sorrow;
Sorrow is death;
Death is life.

And pain is only temporary...
