Shadow
I woke this morning to a beautiful sunrise,
Watching the clouds form in the sky.
Hearing the birds chirping through the tress,
I felt so at ease,
So much at peace.
I yawned and stretched,
Collecting my senses,
Catching my breath.
The couch I sometimes sleep on,
Is on my back porch,
And though I sometimes slumber there,
I'm never alone.
My fat cat keeps me company,
Curled up at my side;
He's too old to roam,
And too fat to hide.
I've nick-named him Shadow,
For one simple reason,
He loves to follow me,
Inside or out,
No matter what the season.
