The Fall

Clawing your way up
Climbing out of hell,
You reach the top.

Having reached
The top,
You see how far
You would fall
If you fell.

While having confidently
Scaled your way up,
You were filled
With determination
And might.

Now that
You've reached the top,
You're filled with fright
At the sight
Of the drop.

Your confidence wavers,
You begin to rock,
Taking stock
Of the hell you climbed
Out of,
And the things
In the sky above.

You fear
The fall,
As a strong wind calls
Your name.

If you were
To fall,
You would loose it all.
Having reached the top,
You'd never be the same.

The wind picks up,
Pushing you to the edge.

Please, God, no!
Soon enough
You'll be over
The ledge.

You've climbed so long,
Tried so hard
To reach the top,
You musn't fall,
You musn't drop.

The sky has darkened,
The storm is on its way,
And with a pitiful cry,
You know your fate
Is sealed.

Unable to fight the wind,
You are thrust
Over the edge,
As you have been
Time and time again.

Free-falling
Back into the abyess,
Where nothing has changed,
Where all renains
The same.

Falling,
Falling,
Falling.
Your heart failing you,
Waiting to hit hard.

Waiting to see what
The fall
Will bring you...

Now that you've landed,
Crushed by
The fall,
You see it all
So clearly.

You were never meant
To be up there,
Not at all.

You belong on the ground,
Where
The fall
Left you
Crushed and bleeding.

Where you
Should have stayed,
All along.

Hey You!!

Great piece, really enjoyed the read.
its true, the higher we climb, the further we have to fall.

This reminds me of a simular piece i read of yours recently, like it is saying the same thing but in a different way.

Debs

Exactly!

Awesome that you caught on to that. And you're right...Same thought, differant directions. Thanks, love, for the comment.
