End Racism Now
More knowledge and less judgement is needed to bridge certain gaps....let's hope history never repeats itself in any form or fashion. We must stand united as a nation or fall collectively as individuals...you decide!
Waking to beauty, at peace with the land, the freedom is had and a treasure....
The strangers arrived, yet we didn't mistrust, and the ills that they brought we have weathered...
With tools yet unseen, they destroyed our dreams, under guise of friendship or of caring...
When deception failed them, the true theft began, and then it was behind guns and horns blaring.
Away we were carried, forced to ride in a ship, shackled to one another like cattle...
For days and for nights, with no ending in sight, spirits broken no fight left for battle...
The ones that survived, though blessed to be alive, faced horrors that some can't believe...
Just think, if you can, of the torture, and then, any other pain that man conceived.
But the spirit lived on, and in some grew quite strong, so they led the way for more to follow...
In a land that was strange, they learned all the ways, for oppressors a hard pill to swallow...
Yet they had no control, and were kept from the fold, new struggles now lighting new fires...
So they persevered on, determined and strong, never wavering to reach what's desired.
The mentality of that time, produced such a clime, that today still exists like a blight...
Although hangings now ceased, the tension increased, because daily our people must still fight...
This fight that I speak of, it goes on many ways, whether overt or cleverly hidden...
But no matter it's face, it consumes one with hate, and it's known to us all as racism.
Many have suffered, at the hand of a few, but I speak of my people, our woes...
To those that deny, or complain with a sigh, can't fathom how deep the pain goes...
"Why?" they may ask, "You weren't even there!", are the replies that are ignorant and dumb...
Knowledge is key, you won't understand me, until you learn of from whence that I come!
