The Hawk
Sitting on my porch today I saw a funny sight
usually when one is seen it's high up during flight.
A predatory killing beast it's beauty makes one gawk
sitting perched up on a branch was one majestic hawk!
Now as stated I've seen them riding wind currents unseen
the way they rise and drop and float to me is like a dream.
A master of the sky it roams it searches as it glides
to swoop in for a meal or two so furry critters hide.
But this one sitting very close it's eyes still on the prowl
it's face to me had on the look similar to a scowl.
Here is where the scene started to take a funny twist
cacophony of bird cries rise and boy did they sound pissed!
The hunter now becomes the hunted but I doubt he knew
the ire that his presence caused in birds of different hues.
The sounds that rose from branches scattered all throughout the trees
would rival any boombox sound or leaves rustled by breeze!
And then it happened and I could not believe what I saw
the hawk puffed up and let out his own version of a caw.
It shattered all the songs the other birds voices had made
and then a lil bird swooped down, it was hiding in the shade.
But just as if he knew the bird was coming in at him
the hawk just tucked his head inside and picked at feathered wing.
Then when done he lifted up his head and looked around
as if to mock their efforts his head bobbing up and down.
I guess the birds felt brave enough because their number strong
against this one that chose to rest where he did not belong.
So once again a tiny bird came in from branches right
and tried to nip the hawk on head but never breaking flight.
I called my children out to see the goings on I viewed
they finally saw what I point out now they are gasping too.
it seemed the hawk has had enough of noise and ogling
with power and grace, it leaves this place, behind on flapping wing.

A very descriptive write.
The flow of this piece was perfect! It really captured my imagination from first line to last. I was there with you all the way, watching that hawk and the birds as they mingled up in that tree.
Really enjoyed reading this!
Thank you
Thank you TJ. It was a really cool scene to see and to get to share it with my children made it that much more special. I'm glad you were able to visulaize it so clearly and thanks for taking the time to read it.
