If love be a river

If love be a river it's water to drink
it's shores lined with quicksand so often to sink
some jump in not looking and fall to it's depths
leading to heart aches and somber regrets
others more timid .... their feet slowly wet
still looking behind, that path to forget
Those so incumbered by stones of the past
never enjoying this river so vast
to wade in the water not counting the cost
forgetting past hurts and feelings of loss
leave now the shore line, of lifes bitter vetch
dip now thy cup, loves thirst soon to quench
