Essense of my being
I think I remember what it was to be free,
To separate myself from these chains that now bind me.
I feel you moving through me,
Diverging to possibility.
All the stems that form as you pass,
Each and every path a stream from the last.
Your tendency to spread as a fractal,
Free from will.
The architect of the scene before me,
Genius or luck?
The chords of your tune forever striking,
But never to be struck.
Why is it that your pulse gets faster,
As mine gets slower?
I feel the pressure as another beat passes me by,
But I'm too slow to react,
I just don't have the strength to push back.
Divinity, and destruction,
You take what was mine,
And force me to my knees.
You force me to kneel at your feet,
And disclose all that I am.
To disclose my innermost insecurities,
Sprawled out before you,
Me in my purest essence.
A man made web ensures I'm stuck on my island,
No ship on the horizon to answer my plea,
Just a tree for shelter as the sun beats down on me.
As I stray from the vice grip of this liar,
I'm disjointed,
Disappointed,
And filled with sense that it's the pain that takes us higher.
