Chichester To Goodwood

From Chichester to Goodwood we all biked
Mum.Aunt Peggy my brother and me
Off for a picnic with the goodies we liked
In a bluebell glade we chose to be .

We unpacked the hamper and laid out the food
On a green linen checked table cloth
With a chunk of Aunt Peggy`s famous bread pud
and a flask of Mums fine chicken broth.

There were sandwiches of paste and ham
Bangers and tiny pork pies
Tartlets filled to the top with jam
All laid before our eyes

Washed down with home made lemon squash
waxed paper plates of jelly
We didn`t have a dish to wash
but we all had a nice full belly

Now Mum and Aunt Peggy they have gone
Along with my childhood days
There`s just me left and my brother Ron
And a sister who lives far away .

I will treasure those moments , deep inside .
Of our family outing forever
And remember the time when we did ride
from Chichester to Goodwood together .

I like it

This was a very sweet poem
