The First Date

She came home from school one day
laughing and singing with joy,
had been asked out on a very first date
with a gorgeous hunk of a boy.

For to meet him this saturday night
he chose her above all the rest,
to take her to the movies
so she must look her best.

Friday night she had a mudpack
with cucumber sliced on her eyes,
but saturday `morn Oh what horrors!!
a pimple on her nose, what a size.

Of course she could not go
maybe ring him and say she was ill,
the movies are dark he may not see
cannot miss this chance so I will.

Concealed the spot with some make up
and all dressed up ready to go,
Mother said goodbye at the door
dont be late and enjoy the show.

She was there to meet him
outside the picture house,
and waited there for half an hour
he didn`t turn up the `louse`

So tearfully turned back home
in her Mothers arms she sobbed,
knowing it was too good to be true
and felt that she`d been robbed

Her little girl had lots to learn
there`s plenty fish in the sea,
"I dont want him to have plenty of fish
Mum I just wanted him for ME".

thanks Vampire

Glad you liked the poem ,this was written for my grandaughters who are coming to the age of having boyfriends and it is mainly just a poem to let them know it doesn`t always run smoothly, that they can get hurt from time to time ,
but they are young and would get over things quickly it is all part of living.
there`s good as well as bad out there.thankyou for your comment from Willow
