May is the month for blossom

for trees and shrubs to bear,

showing off their pretty blooms

sweet fragrance fills the air .

It is the month for maidens

around the maypole dance,

holding pretty coloured ribbons

round and round they prance.

Then off they go to the carnival

to crown the pretty May Queen,

she sits on her throne of blossom

a regal beauty, so calm and serene.
