Of Memories and Sand
Wind in my hair
Salt in the air
Sand slips through my cupped hand
Like the time of a lifespan
Where did it go?
Everything that was?
Will it ever be again?
Waves at my feet
Seagulls calling so sweet
Warm kiss of the sun
Still, time walks not, no, it runs
Where does it go?
Everything that is?
When it is through?
Is a memory just a memory?
Is there an imprint of life
Somewhere in the universe?
In the stars
In the sea
In the earth
Within me?
How do I know?
And then, what do I do?
The memory of every moment
Inside of me--
What should be done with it?
Where will I keep it?
How will I share it?
Where will it go when a memory becomes a memory?
A breeze tickles my cheek
I can hardly speak
What is there to know
When everything's known?
When life suddenly feels
Like a solitary grain of rock
On an enormous, magnificant boulder
Having ups and downs
Being in and out
But still existing...
Always existing...
Even long after detaching from the earth,
from the whole...
I am alive
As long as my memory is alive
But where will my memory be
After I am gone?
Sliding through someone's cupped hands?
Slipping away from the world?
I want to know
But I can't
And I won't.
I simply feel the wind in my hair
The waves at my feet
And sigh

Fantastic!
My Lady, I am delighted to read this poem. Thank you for sharing it. Pure magick!
Oh, thanks!
My Kind Sir, tj, you are a fabulous reviewer =]. Thank you so much for commenting. This is my newest poem and thought of it on an inspiration of the first two lines, working off of those to turn it into a sort of philosophical poem about time and the memory as the universe moves onward. A complete spur-of-the-moment piece. I am glad you enjoyed it. I am proud that you think it is magick =].
When caught in a sandstorm, think of all the memories of time that surrounds you.

Thank you so much adial for commenting =]. I am pleased you liked this piece, especially after the last one...=] And to have you say "Brilliant" and "outstanding," well, it fills my heart with joy. When you say that it evokes a lot, I hope you mean thought about your place in the universe, about where things go after they're finished, what becomes of memories...because that's what I was going for. Thank you for the comment again.
A flower will reach its petals to the sun, but it will never make it. All it can do is dream. It never realizes that touching the sun means death. But the dream is what keeps it alive.

I love it!!!
Hi Winter Rose. That was another great work of yours. The words are very well chosen. There are very deep and various meanings in it.It requires time to interpret the whole work.Well, sometimes it's just hard to believe that a memery is just a simple memory nothing more nothing less...but it remains a memory. You're the only one who holds your memories good and bad ones.A single memory can take you back into the past and have the same feelings you once had before and make you smile or cry.And after we are gone our memories will be kept in the soul of the universe...There is a great secret in memories.Don't you agree??? OUADY E.G
Why, yes
I do quite agree with you, Oady. There is much to be thought about with memories. It's a touchy subject, and I find that I can only think about it for a little while before I feel overwhelmed by how much larger than life it all feels. I get a bit emotional where time is concerned, and I need to stop myself before long...Thank you for your fedback and reading my poem =]. It is lovely to share with you and all other viewers.
