Only Imagine
The bright, sparkling ocean,
Which I have never seen
Is like a memory of what never was,
But plays on still in my mind.
I can imagine the feel of sand between my toes
About as well as I can imagine
The words every girl longs to hear
Being said to me.
I could pretend
That the gentle falling of a leaf
Is a whisper in my ear,
But in truth, it is the descent of the deceased
To it's grave.
Snowflakes can be pictured
As soft kisses on my skin,
But it's really just frozen tears
Reminding me of sorrow.
My heart lies in a valley of inescapable solitude.
The rest of the world
I can only imagine.

Dreams of Beaches
very beautiful
exceptional in its imagery, particularly like the "snowflakes.." line. Lovely, although sad in the conclusion. Perhaps a happy outcome in a follow-up?
Oh, my
It seems I have been quite lazy in my appreciating. Thank you to tj, beaches, and poetmaster for their lovely reviews =] I am honored to know that this poem is thought of as wonderfully written and considered someone's favorite. I did try to convey a lot of imagery in this piece, to express the image in my mind. thank you all for noticing and comenting. And maybe I will have a happy ending one day...=]
