Perceptions, Gods, And Gun Grease

He stands at the podium
His god within his hand
“If you’re not with us, you’re against us”
“If you’re against us, then you must die”
So they take each other and neither has to try

She stands in the gutter
Her god within her hands
“No water, no electricity, but I am still alive”
“They killed my dad and took my brother, all I do is cry”
So they take each other and neither has to try

He stands on his back step
Looking out upon the swing
“My daughter killed in action, I can still see her as she plays”
“She died for someone else’s reasons, none were justified”
So they take each other and neither has to try

She stands within the market
Her god within her hands
“I am ready to be a martyr, I am ready to purge these streets”
“No one here is innocent, justice will be mine”
So they take each other and neither has to try

He stands within the hospital door
Looking down upon the street
“The ambulances keep on coming, the sirens never stop”
“In the distance, always explosions, gunfire, smoke and fear”
So they take each other and neither has to try

He, she, they, them
A god different, none... the same
“They are killing us”... “We are saving them”
“We are liberators”... “They are conquerors”
So they take each other and neither has to try

Perceptions, gods, and gun grease
Teardrops, hate and fear

So they take each other and neither has to try

Good, Wonderful, Great--

good point, wonderful examples, great writing...

At times, almost a ballad!

Love the predictable rhythms and word themes, crossed with adversity. The staying power is dramatic! And the final crunch is awesome!
