Failing Class

Failing Class

She’s an endeavoring law school student, and he’s an engineer of sorts
One studies the laws of physics, the other a list of torts

She leads the class in scores, and he’s the professor’s pet
One knows that they’re the smartest, the other a sure bet

You realize only the brightest, really ever make it oh so far
And you question my yearly income, well just take a look at my car
We’re after all, the ones that drive this world no matter what you think
We’re the ones that look down upon you, it’s no wonder that you sink

Both believe in grand ideas, though much different from the rest
They both believe in being elite, both know that they’re the best

You, without your college, you’ll amount to oh so little
According to our parents, your lives will be so brittle

You realize only the golden kind ever make it to this race
And the house that I reside in, well just look at this grand place
We’re after all, the purest lambs, the only ones to work
We’re the ones that see down on you as if you’re only dirt

That’s what makes us great, that’s what makes us cool
The fact that we have riches, the fact that we’re in school

Our hearts, our minds, well who really cares, we’re not straddling the fence
There’s not a thing that we don’t know, except for common sense

You realize only the shattered ever graduate these halls
And the diplomas all nice and framed, well eventually they fall
We’re often blinded by our brains; it’s the only way to see
We’re the ones that beat our chests, so often ignorantly
