Advice For Piatski

........................................................,.............,,.............. I wrote this for my nephew Pete... he liked my poem "The Seed" and asked mr to write a poem for him... He served 3 stints in Iraq and was almost killed twice... He is also a big Pete Rose fan ... Piatri is Italian for Pete (He's half polish and half Italian) thus AKA "Piatski"

Piat’ski …Piatski...
We’re all the same
The only difference
Is how you say the name

Toma’to or tomato’
Put the stress in the beginning
Just keep working hard… and
I’ll know that you’ll be winning

As long as you’re in the game
As long as you’re not sinning
When the bases are loaded
In that long intense last inning

What are you going to do
When it's all up to you
You better not strike out
No…You better come thru

But there’s no need to be
The universal hero
And you don’t need to be
An emperor like Nero

Just stay in the game
And don't give it away
Like Piatra Rose did
On a cold and rainy day

It's not that it was rainy
And it’s not that it was cold
It's just that one lonely day
The old game just grows old

I will give you the advice
That I would give to my own son
Because you’re the closest thing
That I have to having one

Don't take wooden nickels…
And don't play with matches…
But if you ever start a fire
Just face whatever hatches

And just one more thing
To insure that you succeed
When you put out the fire
You should plant another seed!

another good one Ray

This one was also a good one I do enjoy your poems, a master poet in out midst keep writing from Willow

Willow...

You are really good for my ego... Thank you so much!

Ray
