Poor Soul
Love… Silent love
Stifled and stealthy
The unexposed naked truth
The poor soul was wealthy
The poor soul had it all
Though she asked for nothing
And nothing she had
Was really worth something
But even a poor soul
Like an empty hole
Has lots of room for love
If love was only the goal
If only love… was the goal
For is not love alone enough
Must we have more… and more…
Do we need all this stuff
How beautiful the empty hole
With all its dirt removed
The poor soul is enriched
Her naked soul is soothed
Void of all love
How free she must feel
Nothing to lose
Those feelings are real
Real close to my heart
You once were
But once again…

Thanks for thinking of me and missing me... As you know I have been concentrating on writing my novel... but I was on a long road trip yesterday and I kept thinking of words or phrases with words that have opposite meanings... nothing vs. something... poor vs. wealthy, rich, enriched... unexposed vs. naked... future vs. history ... tomorrow is the history of the future
Anyway... I had some ideas bouncing around in my empty mind and I threw them around a little ... This was one of those ones that the ink just spilled right on to the paper... And I surprised myself with the ending ... I really did not know where I was going ... I was trying to be ambiguous and keep the reader guessing… But Linda this is not really a happy poem… read it again… The poor soul is happy because he is not in love or loved… He Is feels free because he was in love and in the end he is not… In the beginning he is in love but he fights it and keeps it to himself he does let anyone get close to him because he does want to be vulnerable and take the of chance getting hurt… He is rich in money and material things but he does not have love …. Nor want love… And everything he has is worthless… There is nothing more valuable than love… LOVE is all you need… Remember the Beatles… “All you need is Love” la la la la la… Love is all you need… I think that is the message
Linda thanks again for taking the time to read this... I missed you!
Ray AKA Yobarney
good backround Ray
I enjoyed the bitter sweetness to this one. Do you think he eventually realised that? Interesting, love is. I think a person needs bubble gum, cotton candy and love. I am silly. raskin
