Precious Things

I wrote this for my dad and sister... My dad told her, "The most important things in life... Are not things!"

Precious things on my mantel
Precious things collecting dust
Precious things I might polish
Yet someday they may rust

But precious things are things
And a wise man once said
The things that are most precious
Are the things inside your head

The most important things
… Are not things after all
Some things that are precious
… Are often very small

Like small considerations
And random acts of kindness
The times we laughed together
Are things that are so priceless

The memories of my dad
And the love of my mother
These are the kinds of things
That I value like no other

You can take away my watches
You can take away my Lexus
But you cannot take away from me
The things that are most precious

Beautiful!

'Random Acts Of Kindness'

I love this expression, and have come across it many times. I think this is a very special kind of love..the altruistic kind.

Help from heaven!

Thank you Willow... I know this sounds weird but... I wrote it on March 17...that would have been my dad's 84th birthday... I wrote it so fast (maybe 5 minutes at the most) that I think my dad was helping me. My dad was brilliant! ... He had 5 patents and top secret government clearance! An infectious laugh and a great wit!
