The Seed
I planted a seed
The seed did not grow
I gave it water
The seed did not grow
I nourished the soil
The seed did not grow
I gave it my love
The seed did not grow
I gave it some light
The seed did not grow
Even a scarecrow
Did not make it grow
I gave it water
The water had dried
The climate was cold
Tears froze when I cried
I gave it my love
But love’s not enough
With climate so cold
The growing was tough
I moved to the south
Where all the plants grew
The plants grew on trees
With flowers of blue
The vines grew on vines
The moss grew on rocks
Mold grew on my shoes
And funk on my socks
I planted a seed
But it did not grow
The icebergs melted
The jungles layed low
Some jungles were high
The sun was too hot
Where life once flourished
For now it does not
I moved to the north
Where all the plants grew
The plants grew on trees
With flowers of blue
The vines grew on vines
The moss grew on rocks
Mold grew on my shoes
And funk on my socks
And standing right there
Where I used to live
Stood a giant tree
Bearing fruit to give
I planted a seed
And somehow I knew
The seed I planted...
That little seed grew!

Superb!
There's so much i like about this poem. The rhythm, the stanza breaks, the flow. But most of all the feel of the whole piece. Simply superb!

Sweet poem Ray!
I think your seed poem is awesome. what i get from it? if we can be patient, then good things will come eventually!
i really like your style.
Linda
Thank you...
Thank you very much Linda... you are right about the patience... The earth has been changing for millions of years and it will keep changing and evolving. But we are still here. we need to do our best to preserve our planet... and we should look for the good in change instead of dwelling on the bad... More importantly if we don't work on loving and be more compassionate and respectful to others, then we won't have to worry about global warming. We need to work on the human spirit first!
