The Thirsty String

This is dedicated to my brother, Bill.. RIP.. He wrote this joke and he was a very good poet

A string walked into a bar.
He was feeling very hot.
He said I need a drink…
Please tell me what you’ve got!

The bartender said I’m sorry…
We do not serve strings here!
But I don’t want a string…
I would like a cold beer!

No! …You are a string…
And it’s written on the wall.
We do not serve strings…
It’s against our bar’s law!

The string headed for the door.
You could see he was frustrated.
He murmured under his breath…
“This place is overrated!”

He got himself so stressed…
He tied himself in a knot.
Why can’t a string get a drink…
When a string gets really hot!

Then he got an idea…
I will go there in disguise!
I’ll try to change my voice…
And cover up my eyes!

But what should I be…
A clubbed foot taboo?
Something long and thin…
I know what I can do!

So he got himself a fro comb…
And he frayed out his hair…
He tied a few more knots…
Walked in and grabbed a chair!

The bartender was suspicious…
Although he spoke very low.
“Hey aren’t you that string…
That was here a while ago?”

“A string?” He laughed aloud!
“Don’t put me on the spot!
You must be mistaken…
No… I’m a Frayed Knot!”

Thank you Linda

Thank you Linda... We have a few stories... It was a great childhood. It's kind of sad... My brother never saw any of my poems... I think he would have liked them and I could see us writing together and feeding off of each other and maybe having a friendly competition!

Thanks for the read!

Very funny ending! It's sad that your brother won't get to see this piece, but I think it's a great tribute to him!

In my faith...

I stated earlier that my brother has never seen any of my poems... He died 11 years ago and I wrote my first poem, "Still hopping on Pop", 8 years ago.... and only 2 until 3years ago... But I like to believe that he sees all my poems and he is in heaven smiling at me... He was a great brother to me and a true inspiration!

David... Thanks for taking the time tio read this ... it means a lot to me!
I have not been able to spend too much time here lately because I had to lay off severa employees and I am working a lot more now... Bad economy!

Your friend,

Ray AKA Yobarney
